Just got back from doing a two day pike derby on Belwood lake in Fergus this weekend, must have been close to a hundred boats out there for the derby. First place was $2000 dollars and you needed a min 24" pike to enter. Saturday was overcast and cold, I had two coats on and I still had a chill going on. I think we used every thing in the tackle box to get the pike to hit that day,we managed 7 between the three of us nothing over 16". By the end of the day there was one pike entered 24" long ,still everyone had a chance on day two. Rained most of the night and foggy in the morning to start off, but a bit warmer which was nice.We only managed two fish today, again nothing to write home about. By the end of the derby at 4pm there was a grand total of three fish entered ,winner was 36" than 30' and finally the 24"er from the day before. It was a tough two days of fishing but we had some good times with friends and shared some fish stories around the fire at night. If anyone likes too pike fish they should give it a go next year, and its close to home to boot. ;D
