Joe Starts the year off with a Big Bang 2 big entrees caught in one day of ice fishing. Congrats to Joe. Come on guys, get off the couch. There's some good hard water fishing to be had close to home. Joe, Glen and myself, hit St. Williams yesterday, we walked out on a good 5" of black ice. Joe went off the ice with a couple trophies plus a good bag of perch. Glen and myself, I think were eating Hot Dogs tonight ;D We moved around allot looking for big numbers, but Joe stayed in a few spots saying you got to wait them out "they'll be back" He was right, look at these babies 14 1/4" Perch  33" Pike  Erie , Binbrook, and Simcoe have been producing good numbers of fish. Those are a couple of beauties Joe, well done.
As for you Dave a few words of advice. While I'm not experienced with sheephead (like you) but I think at this time of year you have to fish deeper water. ;D

Dave: went out to st.williams today, out to the pressure crack by grangers huts. Moved 4 times during the day ,and came across a school at each spot.Fish were all small, and didn't even come home with enough too make a fish sandwich.It's pizza tonight!!

Sorry to hear that Serge, I'm setting up a Pike rig for tomorrow or Tues. I'm going to give it another shot. I found when ATV's moved near us, the fish took off, seemed like when we moved away from the crowd less people, no noise we seen more fish, maybe because it's so shallow I don't know. We may try out a little farther. I heard there going out at Innisville Beach, getting Whities and Trout, 75' FTW. got to be careful, not much ice. Their charging $10.00 to park  You see they canceled the Ice News Pier 4 derby, sad, because that was a good thing. Dave |

Thanks for the update Dave. There were guys out passed the pressure crack , but talked to one guy who came back from over the crack that day and said it was a little on the thin side.Good luck, I"m also going to miss the bayfront derby had lots of fun last year.
