Perch Fishing -Lake Ontario

Good morning everyone, hope everyone is good.   Was hoping to take the kids fishing this weekend for Perch for the first time.   We are going to launch in Nanticoke and was hoping for some help.   Should we be using small minnow and close to shore? Any suggestions will be appreciated
 Really hoping to just catch a few and not have them bored all day.

Most are catching Perch in Long Point Bay or Crystal Beach. Years ago used to catch Perch near the Stelco pier at Nanticoke.
